How Great Is Our God?….

I don’t think i can ever find an answer to this question, because every time i find an answer, he surprises me with another act that leaves me speechless and in awe. Just as king David sang in Psalms ” Lord there is no good thing apart from you”, that’s how we can not boast in our lives because we have no life of our own and all we have belongs to God. If we know God is everything then we need to give him the glory he deserves. We need to realize he is the captain if our ships and we can be sure of safety, with no fear of storm not ship wreck. Our God is great, he is the one who created the whole universe and is never limited by his creation. The only awesome God. Upon creation God gave us the gift of freewill and an option. We are entitled to our own decisions and must also face the consequences of our decisions. God is compassionate, merciful, gracious and abounding in mercy. He is always faithful even in our unfaithfulness.   In our society today, we are always preoccupie...

Life In Lasgidi….(Lagos)

Imagine waking up with a smile and be left puzzled by the end of the day? Commuters, conductors, drivers in Lagos metropolis have a way of defining how your day would turn out to be. You can’t imagine what’s it’s like living in a city like Lagos. You can never get it right, believe me. The day you decide to be holy, lagosians would make sure you are the most corrupt for the day. “There is no gentle man in Lagos” that is the commonly used slang in the city. It is often said that the gentle ones are the ones that get pushed around and now am beginning to understand that.  When it rains, it’s another tug of war. The conductors and the drivers capitalizes on that and hike the fare. You either ride or get down, they tell you, “ them force you enter?”  will keep blasting your ears. Car horns blasts as vehicles make their way through the traffic, street music blasting the serenity of the environment, rowdy vendors clamoring to sell their merchandise. The lanes ar...

A Friend Indeed?…

I have always told myself and the people around me to be very careful when choosing a friend, for a good friend will bring out the best in you and make you shine while a fake or bad friend will break you in every way. A poem says ” If you have a friendship with a person of bad character or reputation, you become as nameless and formless like the drop of water on a frying pan on a hot burning oven. The drop of water evaporates and disappears after a short while.”   So it is when you have a bad friend, you cease to be good and will only be remembered for bad. Who needs such a friend? Evil communication corrupts good manner is an adage as old as time but you never understand this quote until you have a bad friend.  You may be a polite, soft-spoken person of gentle manners while your friend may be domineering, rough, roguish and given to evil ways, it will only be a matter of time before that friend will take advantage of your innocence, softness and trick you, or even ...

No Place Like Home…

Home is anywhere you find peace and fulfillment, anywhere you are free to be yourself, express yourself and still be accepted. It could also be within the confines of a building, although not all the time. Growing up, i was a bit hyperactive and troublesome. I would go outside and look for trouble and when a fight starts, i would run back home where i know i will be safe and my brother’s would fight for me. To me, my home was my safe haven, my dad my hero, my mom my mentor and my siblings my best support system. It didn’t matter where i was, i would always want to run back home.  Over the years i have discovered that a lot of people do not feel at home in their homes, nor use their voices in their own homes. We must have all heard of the saying “Home is where the heart is.”right? For me, my home isn’t just a place where i eat and sleep, it’s also a place where i find peace, a place where i don’t have to hide what I feel and how i feel. It serves a greater purpose than simpl...

Accuracy…#WatchWord

There are three very important things you can always give but still keep at the same time…Your word, a smile, and a Grateful heart! We should not let bad things in out past effect good things in our future. No matter how far wrong you have gone. You can always turn around. I still wonder how some people can live and not smile, be grateful or even keep their words. Today they blow hot, tomorrow they blow cold. It’s still a mystery to me and maybe with time, i will figure that out.  I woke up tired like I ran a race last night and just didn’t feel like going to church. But then I need to start my week right by first getting it right with God (my maker) and I am so I had to go. Although it was almost as if I dragged myself there but every word spoken left me grateful for coming. In church, I learned that average people have wishes and hopes, confident people have goals and plans. We close our eyes for what we don't want to see, just to enjoy the lies we love to hear....

Allergic Addictions!

In life there are some things that are said and there are those that are better left unsaid while our feelings are left to tell the better tales . Some of us have finally gotten our lives right just the way we want it to be. A steady job, wonderful family, successful careers and children, and so on and so forth. Many others are still struggling to find their feet, some can barely figure anything out, talk about humiliation and pain? Many have seen the better side of it.  Jasmine thought she had everything all figured out. Perfect relationship, Perfect career, perfect home, perfect illusion as well but all these were before she found out that her perfect man was having an affair with the sister. Yet, she remains addicted to him. Mrs Charlotte thought her service and dedication to God would make the life of her children better. All she has ever wanted is to see her children drawing closer to God, “her perfect addiction”. But this was not the case. Her son just got sentenced to f...

How Justified Are You.... .

We are saved not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit"</strong></em> Total Justification by faith was Martin Luther's great spiritual and theological breakthrough. It did not come easily. He had tried everything from sleeping on hard floors and fasting to climbing a staircase in Rome while kneeling in prayer. Monasteries, disciplines, confessions, masses, absolutions, good works-all proved fruitless. Peace with God eluded him. The thought of the righteousness of God pursued him. He hated the very word "righteousness," which he believed provided a divine mandate to condemn him. Light finally dawned for Luther as he meditated on Romans 1:17, "<em>For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith</em>." He saw for the first time that the righteousness Paul ha...
